Last night, hot on the heels of winning their 17th NBA Championship, the Boston Celtics selected three players in the NBA’s annual Entry Draft. With the 30th overall pick in the Draft, the Celtics chose former McDonalds All-American and Rock Chalk Jayhawk, J.R. Giddens, a shooting guard out of the University of New Mexico. Boston traded cash considerations for the Washington Wizards 17th pick in the second round, which was used to select Kansas State small forward Billy Walker. With the last pick in the Draft, the Celtics then tabbed what they believed to be a seven foot Turkish center who obviously sucks at basketball but was in actuality my pet cat, Mr. Jingles, for whom I devised a false identity intended to deceive gullible NBA front office types. Surprise, surprise, surprise. John Paxson successfully resisted impulses to field a good team, and has drafted yet again. Chicago fans are excited over yet more kids, and are throwing parties to celebrate their decade of dominance. Good luck with that. Now the fun starts, Pat Riley looking to deal and Herman Munster and the Pilsbury Draftboy waiting. Well, we’re up and running again, many thanks to the courageous Evil Administrator for his work in the code mines. It’s obviously late, but I will have up the 2008 Draft Mockery tomorrow night. Also, through dint of hard work I found an archived copy of the 2007 Feast of St. Giles article, and I’ll get that up. The Evil Administrator is going to work hard to restore the 2006-07 articles that survive, but that’ll take a while. Tom Toner has rejoined the staff here, and will be giving us a fair share of his incendiary wit. Though obviously after watching Sasha Vujina, Pussy Galore, and Lamar Mundane go down in flames, we’re all in a far better mood. In honour of the Lakers stupendous performance…
